Indus AI: Tech Mahindra’s Answer to the Challenge
When Sam Altman visited India and a reporter asked him how easy or difficult it would be for India to build its own AI chatbot, Altman remarked that it would be very costly due to the high demand for GPUs, suggesting that India couldn’t create its own ChatGPT-like model.
Taking this as a challenge, Tech Mahindra’s former CEO, CP Gurnani, spearheaded the development of Project Indus—an indigenous, multilingual AI chatbot designed to showcase India’s capability in AI innovation.
